Grand 86th Birthday Celebrations of Dr. T. R. Paarivendhar at SRMIST

Kattankulathur, August 2025:
The 86th birthday of Dr. T. R. Paarivendhar, Founder Chancellor of the SRM Group of Institutions and Member of Parliament (Perambalur Constituency), was celebrated as a grand four-day event at SRM Institute of Science and Technology (SRMIST), Kattankulathur campus.

The celebrations, held from August 21 to 24, 2025, were jointly organized by the Paarivendhar Students Tamil Association, Tamil Perayam, and the Indhiya Jananayaga Katchi (IJK) Party, making it one of the most vibrant and memorable occasions in SRMIST history.


Multi-Day Celebration Highlights

📚 Day 1 & 2 (August 21–22) – Tamil Perayam Cultural Festivities

The celebrations began under the banner of SRM Tamil Perayam, with programs that highlighted Tamil language, literature, and culture. Students and faculty participated in:

  • Debates, oratory, and essay competitions on Tamil heritage.

  • Literary sessions celebrating classical and modern Tamil writers.

  • Traditional folk arts and performances, reinforcing Tamil cultural identity.

These sessions reflected Dr. Paarivendhar’s belief that education must be rooted in cultural values while embracing global perspectives.


🎉 Day 3 (August 23) – Birthday Celebrations by IJK Party

On August 23, the Indhiya Jananayaga Katchi (IJK) Party, founded by Dr. Paarivendhar himself, celebrated the Chancellor’s birthday with great pride and enthusiasm.

The highlight of the day was the participation of Thiru. Edappadi K. Palaniswami, former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.

  • Leaders, cadres, and well-wishers gathered to felicitate Dr. Paarivendhar.

  • The event recognized his dual role as an educationist and a parliamentarian committed to social development.

🌟 Day 4 (August 24) – Main Celebration at SRMIST Auditorium

On his birthday, the Paarivendhar Students Tamil Association organized the grand finale at the Dr. T. P. Ganesan Auditorium, SRMIST-Kattankulathur.

Key highlights included:

  • Cultural Performances: Students presented vibrant dance, drama, and music programs showcasing Tamil heritage.

  • Tree Plantation Drive at Vadapathi village school, reinforcing his commitment to environmental sustainability.

  • Tribal School Outreach in partnership with the SRM Coimbatore Alumni Chapter, extending educational support to tribal children.

  • Community Service Initiatives: Distribution of fruits at orphanages and elderly homes, along with competitions for school children, echoing his message of compassion and inclusivity.

🗣️ Dr. Paarivendhar’s Inspiring Address

In his birthday address, Dr. T. R. Paarivendhar inspired students with a powerful message:

“Work, work, and only work should be the guiding mantra.
Time should never be wasted without work.
Progress is possible only through hard work.”
